Jon Burgerman
"Jon Burgerman makes vibrant, neo primitive scrawls of shapes and colour. He's pushed his monster-like characters into compositions where cartoon-like forms are crammed on top of each until they create a screaming mass of energy. Intensely prolific, he has pushed the character obsession of the late 90s into a far more interesting and strong direction. Think Walt Disney at an Incan monument on mescaline." I make images and fun things and hope to entertain and delight whilst doing so, or at least stave off the impending dread of getting old and the fear of death for a while.
My work is collected worldwide and is in the permanent collections of The Victoria and Albert Museum London, Castle Museum Nottingham and The Science Museum London.
I have a band called Anxieteam.
Our first single was released on Hello Thor records in September 2010 and received airplay on BBC Radio 1, xFm, 6 Music and many other stations.
In 2008 I appeared as a guest on the popular BBC TV show Blue Peter. I've been on TV and the radio quite a few times since and sometimes my work pops up in big Hollywood films. This isn't all that exciting.
I've sold my soul to, I mean, collaborated with brands that include: Pepsi, CocaCola, Nike, Sony, Sky, Kidrobot, Puma, Nintendo, MTV, Levis, 55DSL, Miss Sixty, AOL, Size? and Rip Curl. I also once designed a special sick bag for Virgin Atlantic flights.
As my soul has been massively diminished I will only now sell it for very nice and special projects.
I live and work in New York and online. I like salad.
