About us:

Political consulting is simply the applied term for those consulting within the political arena. Management consulting is the term given to help either struggling companies or those that need assistance in improving themselves. People often ask what the difference is. The answer is none. Campaigns are a business with clear-cut goals that need to generate a profit to be successful, like Walmart, AT&T, Apple or JP Morgan Chase. They generate a profit or loss; they have a break-even point, income statements, balance sheets, etc. Managing a campaign is project management that includes knowing the competition and having a clear-cut goal.

Campaigns must be run as a company in order to succeed, which so many, unfortunately, do not realize. “This is a campaign, not Apple” is what this company’s founder has often heard. Is it any wonder that so many campaigns that probably should have won ended up being sadly defeated? “Campaigns often need brutal reality therapy,” according to Phillips. “They should know what they’re doing right but they need to know what they’re doing wrong especially if their opponent is doing a better job at getting their message across.”

Our founder has worked extensively in politics, from raising funds door to door to managing his own PAC to working for two separate Congressmen. However, what sets us apart is our industry experience and time spent outside the political arena. Jonah Phillips has an MBA in management consulting and experience working for a biotech company – experience without which he feels he would never be able to be a management consultant to a political campaign. While working in biotech, he was able to achieve European regulatory approval (CE Mark) to market two of his company’s tests in the European market. This was project management at its most intense as failure simply was not an option. That can-do attitude of “you must either find a way or create one” he feels is essential to going out on his own as a management consultant. Without that background and experience, he would never succeed as a management consultant. In using industry, particularly Biotech experience to be a successful management consultant to a political campaign, we embrace what Peter Drucker once said:

"Management is doing things right; leadership is doing the right things."
