Jonas is a strategic and digital communications professional with a keen interest in international city relations and smart cities. He is currently a research fellow at the Technical University Berlin and a project associate with the international affairs unit of Berlin's department for urban development and the METROPOLIS city network.

Jonas is a Berlin native and loves to travel and learn about new cultures. So far, he has lived abroad in France, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Singapore and China - and hopes to experience many more places!

Jonas holds a dual masters degree in Global Media & Communications from the London School of Economics and Political Science, UK, and Fudan University in Shanghai, China. He also works as a freelance consultant in Berlin and occasionally contributes to online magazines and think tanks on topics such as the role of digital technology and social media for local democracy, place branding and city networks. He was on the jury for the 2014 World Mayor Prize.
