Jonathan Cooper
Economic development planner and Consultant in Bennington, Vermont
Work
I am an economic development planner, consultant, and Vermont State Representative who combines an engaging communication style with creative insights drawn from careful analysis and data-driven rigor. I am open to consulting opportunities and would be happy to discuss your project at your earliest convenience.
At the Bennington County Regional Commission my work connects me to southwestern Vermont's businesses, municipalities, and community organizations, as well as actors at the state and federal level. In this role I am able to effectively advocate for rural economic development and help position the region for future prosperity and continued opportunity. Since January 2025, I have been working on these same issues in the state legislature as the Representative for the Bennington-1 District. Looking at issues through several lenses affords us better perspectives.
My work in private practice has given me the opportunity to engage with economic development issues playing out in communities across the country, on behalf of clients in the private sector, public sector, and the nonprofits and advocacy groups that operate in between. In addition to exceeding client expectations at every turn, this work has been featured on National Public Radio, archived in the State Library of Massachusetts, and cited in numerous journals, white papers, and corporate communications.
I have always valued the opportunity to produce exceptional work for all of my clients and project partners. I look forward to hearing from you.
