My passion has always been to be the best I can at everything I do. Ever since I was little I’ve been competitive and I realized this by the way I would act when I play sports. Sports have and always will be one of my favorite hobbies, and that’s where this competitiveness came from. From playing basketball or baseball on a team, to just casually playing a pickup game of hockey or a round of golf, I always strived to be the best I could be. If I did something wrong or made a mental mistake, I would practice and think about that so much that I would never do the same thing wrong again. For example one time I struck out looking towards the end of a baseball game on a pitch that was close, but definitely not a strike. However, right after that I knew I should never make it come down to something that close and should’ve swung either way. Things like that would happen all the time and turned me into a better player for all sports that I played. As I got older I’ve used this same mindset toward other things in life like school and work.
Once I came to UMass, I knew right away that I had to do well in order to gain an advantage over other people, similar to sports. I did exactly that and even after starting off slow, I used mistakes as examples of what not to do and that has been what is driving my success so far. It doesn’t just stop with school though because I find myself doing the same thing when I work. I try my best to make fewer mistakes and take on challenges in hopes to get a promotion. If I get an internship this summer, I will strive to be good at it in hopes of possibly being offered a career when I graduate from UMass.
Therefore, one of my passions in life, which is being the best I can, is shown throughout many different things. It started with my favorite hobby of sports when I was little and then slowly transferred to things that are more important like school and work. This same passion will carry me through the financial job field to a great career that will allow me to support my family.
