Jonathan Chapman

I was born and raised in Woolwich, Maine across from the shipbuilding city of Bath and developed a love for yachting at an early age while growing up and cruising on the coast with my family. While at Wheaton College I spent summers working as dockmaster and launch operator at the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club in Maine, and at the New York Yacht Club in Newport, Rhode Island. I also frequently raced in local PHRF and one design fleets during these years, and began to develop an interest in early wooden craft. Attending the Wooden Boat School in Brooklin, Maine I built myself a Nutshell Pram, which has lead to numerous other projects including assisting with the restoration of "PATRIOT", my 21' 1959 Hodgdon Brothers runabout. After graduating from Wheaton the next few years were spent employed as mate aboard several motor yachts, both private and charter, cruising the waters of the east and west coasts of the United States, the Caribbean, Alaska, Europe, and the Netherlands. These experiences have provided me with a first hand knowledge about many aspects of yachting, from vessel servicing to their operation and business management. In 1999 I began in the yacht brokerage and sales business working for a Massachusetts based company which sold and brokered a number of quality production sail and powerboat lines. Having a desire to deal more exclusively with classic, traditional and unique contemporary yachts, I moved on to work with the well respected firms of Bartram & Brakenhoff in 2001, and International Yacht Collection in 2004, before joining the team of "Gentlemen Brokers" at Northrop and Johnson. I bring expansive medium and large yacht knowledge to the firm and to my clients, and I continue to focus on both sales and new construction projects in industry world wide. I feel fortunate to say I have earned a solid reputation for honesty and integrity, and for going the extra mile for my clients. I am also a Florida licensed broker, an active member of YBAA (Yacht Brokers Association of America) and FYBA (Florida Yacht Brokers Association), earned my CPYB (Certified Professional Yacht Broker) designation in 2005, a member of the Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club in Maine, and a licensed captain.
