Hi. Welcome.

First: look up, now look down.

You see that pair of aqua-blue sunglasses? Yeah. I'm definitely that type of guy.

My name's Jonathan Wang. People call me Jon. I'm a senior at Troy High as well as an athlete and tutor.

I've been swimming for 13 years, did it competitively for five, played soccer for three, and I've been saber fencing for four. I'm only a fencer and runner now.

I also used to work for a tutoring company but now you can find me helping students in different subjects for free. Seeing people smile after accomplishing something new is the best.

Outside of the classroom, I spend time at the hospital volunteering and shadowing oncologists as well as writing abstracts. I hope to benefit my community and be a physician one day like my brother.

In my free time, I read, talk American History with my parents, watch sports and the news, learn about Spanish and Chinese culture, and run with music on full volume. Heavy breathing distracts me.

Another one of my favorite past-times is traveling the world. Someone used to tell me that traveling can reveal everything about a person's character. I agree. My favorite cities are New York City, London, Beijing, and Denver. Each has its own personality, culture, and vibe. With traveling, I become more aware of how others live and think. It's made me more open-minded.

For reading, my favorite book is "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" by Mark Twain. It's a satirical and classic coming-of-age story about a young boy who finds his individuality. Maybe I see a little Huck in myself.

If there are five things I've learned from all my experiences, I would say they are: be consistent, be reliable, remain calm, have an optimistic attitude, and stay coachable.

Before you go, I hope you can spend some time and check out my blog. It's only Biology-related, but it has some information about past experiments I've done in school and about the club I founded - GIDAS.

That's all. Stay safe.
