Here's some information about me for your scrolling downward consideration:

Hi, I'm Jonathan, and I'm from Birmingham, Alabama. I've been described as "a writer" and "contributor" by places like Rolling Stone, NPR, Pitchfork, The A.V. Club, Noisey/Vice, Paste Magazine, SPIN, Stereogum, Brooklyn Vegan, Decibel Magazine, and other publications. In 2012, I created a Tumblr account and despite my better judgment, named this Tumblr account "Steel for Brains". For three years, Steel for Brains (or SfB) became one of the most respected online music publications covering experimental/avant garde/really loud music. More specifically, SfB quickly gained its notice because of the site's interview features. The interviews told stories, and readers like stories. Because of that, the opportunity to write for the above-mentioned places kind of just naturally happened. Since then I've gone from being a no-name from Alabama to being a no-name from Alabama with a link in his email signature.

On the non-music/film writing end of things, I've had my poetry/prose published by places like The Evergreen Review, Aura Magazine, Eunoia Review, Pif Magazine, and Under the Gum Tree. In 2010, I was given the Thomas H. Brown Award for my nonfiction short-story, "Death Food". I have two books being published in 2016 and will be collaborating with award-winning filmmaker David Hall on the Billy Anderson documentary, God of Thunder. My favorite Thundercat was Panthro. When I was in 9th grade, I wrote Lauryn Hill a love letter. She hasn't responded. Yet. I think olives are the worst thing in all of nature. My favorite things are my kids, rivers, pies, Tilda Swinton, Rush, and the firecracker/cocaine scene in Boogie Nights. You can find me on Twitter and the 'Stagram, or just be old-fashioned and email me: jonathankdick (at) gmail (dot) com.
