Dr. D’Cunha is the Chair of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Mayo Clinic Arizona and Professor of Surgery at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine.

Dr. D’Cunha now leads the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department at Mayo Clinic Arizona as its Chair. In addition to his clinical interests which include expertise in minimally invasive/robotic thoracic surgery and lung/mediastinal/esophageal oncology, he specializes in care of the most complex patients related to lung failure. He is the Surgical Director of ECMO and the Surgical Director of Lung Transplantation. His career has also led him to be involved in the heart transplant program along with spearheading the DCD heart transplant program. As one of his passions is lung transplantation, he has been the lead physician in the development and planning of the future of lung transplantation and EVLP at Mayo Clinic Arizona which is now active and about to do its first transplant.. His research interests are broad and include all aspects of thoracic oncology and lung transplantation having authored and published several hundred manuscripts, abstracts, and book chapters along with being internationally recognized for this expertise.
