Jonathan J. Felix
Transdisciplinary academic in Vietnam
I am a transdisciplinary academic at the intersection of Sociology, Design, Media, and Cultural Studies. My research interests include Higher Education, Alternative Media, and Digital Cultures. I am a Visiting Fellow of the International and Comparative Education Research Group with the Universiti Brunei Darussalam (ICE-UBD) and I hold an Associate Fellowship with the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA). I am also a member of Design Objective (DO), the International Communication Association (ICA), and the Media, Communications & Cultural Studies Association (MeCCSA).
With over 17 years collective experience in the creative industries and higher education, I have worked independently and collaboratively in supporting blended teaching and learning through workshops, academic advisement, e-learning, curriculum development, programme validation, and other quality assurance measures. I currently develop and coordinate the delivery of multiliteracies and research skills, for courses in cultural studies, communication, and design theory across a range of disciplines, in addition to practical digital media skills. Favouring textual research methods and publishing in traditional and alternative modes of scholarship, my work is influenced by post-structuralist and continental philosophical schools of thought.
My work over the years has allowed me to engage and collaborate with students, academics, industry experts, and institutions such as the Caribbean Fashion and Arts Feature Festival, the Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago, the Inter-American Development Bank, the University of Sunderland, the London College for Design and Fashion, VietTESOL, Hồ Chí Minh City University of Technology and Education, Tôn Đức Thắng University, RMIT University, Common Ground Research Networks, IGI Global, and the Design Research Society.
