Jonathan (Jon) Hakim
Director in Shanghai
I went to Hong Kong in 1995 after graduating from Northwestern with majors in Economics and Computer Science. When I arrived in Hong Kong, the internet had not yet caught on. I went through a whirlwind of internet ventures including BOOM.COM and did well with most except for the bar and restaurant I opened.
I moved to Beijing in 2002 and got into the healthcare industry taking jobs at small pharmaceutical companies and market research businesses. I also did some consulting until 2005 and then got into Biotech for six years. From there I helped my friend with his power plant construction business and flew to many countries that don't welcome US people. After a year or so, my back started hurting from so much traveling so I got back into healthcare. Now I am living in Shanghai and am involved in a start up medical device and consumer healthcare company (ECM Medical) that licenses technologies from the US for the China markets. Now I spend most of my weekdays in Shenzhen/Hong Kong and my weekends in Shanghai.
