I live to create, contribute, and inspire.

I can tell you from experience that most neighbors do not appreciate musical street performances at 8 a.m. on a Saturday morning; but stray dogs and early morning tai chi enthusiasts in Taipei do. I grew up in the bustling city of Taipei, Taiwan, surrounded by night market street stalls and people – lots of them. In addition to spending 2 years in Tokyo, Japan, I also spent 4 years studying at Rice University in Houston, Texas, where I graduated in May 2014. I have been to over 22 countries and intend to continue traveling around the world to learn about new cultures and to meet new people from all walks of life. Starting in August 2015, I will be attending the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University to work towards an M.B.A.

In my free time, I enjoy playing trumpet at coffee shops and wine bars with my jazz quintet, Scatastrophe. It is a strange band name, I know, but the inspiration came from my vocalist’s love of cats and her inability to scat.

In addition to my musical interests, I enjoy following the trend-setting fashion market in Asia. The start-up company that I am currently managing is an amalgamation of my love for fashion and my interest in tech start-ups. I have put together a team of coders and marketers to help build UNI Culture (UNIC) into an e-commerce platform which serves as an online retail start-up that connects the Asian fashion market to the growing crowd of fashion enthusiasts in North America. I am also in the process of developing a mobile 3D modeling program that would drastically change the platform of online shopping by allowing consumers the opportunity to try clothes on a scaled avatar of themselves using software that requires only a mobile phone camera, limited user input, and good lighting. I want to revolutionize the online shopping experience.

Outside of trumpet and tech startups, my interests include competitive swimming, running at 5K charity events, jamming out on a guitar or piano with friends, and of course, long romantic walks to the fridge. Food is love; food is life.

I love making new professional acquaintances. I am interested in networking with passionate individuals and engaging leaders. Reach out to me at [email protected] and check out my LinkedIn profile at www.linkedin.com/in/jonathanhua/ .
