Jonathan grew up in Elgin, a small Texas town, along with his younger brother. He was active in the Boy Scouts from a young age, earning the rank of Eagle Scout at age 16. In between his junior and senior year of high school, Jonathan enlisted in the Texas Army National Guard and completed basic training as an infantryman. Jonathan was selected to serve in the 143rd Long Range Surveillance Unit based in Austin, Texas. Jonathan graduated from Airborne School, Northern Mountain Warfare School (in Alaska), Sniper School, Ranger School, several leadership schools, and earned numerous awards for his service. Jonathan served two years overseas, Iraq (2005) and Afghanistan (2009), and he loves to talk about his travels and experiences.
While serving in the military, Jonathan earned a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Human Biology from the University of Texas at Austin, with a concentration in Pathogenesis and Immunity. Jonathan relocated to Fort Worth to attend the UNT Health Science Center as a Physician Assistant Student; he worked as a tutor, helping underclassmen with medical fundamentals. In his free time, Jonathan enjoys cooking with his wife, volunteering with Ronald McDonald House, and spending time outdoors with his rescue-dog from Afghanistan.
