Jonathan M. Jones
With the rise of carbon emissions and overall ocean warming, I aim to understand how the coastal environment is changing and how marine organisms are likely to respond to these changes in a future ocean. I routinely use automated sampling instruments such as ISFET pH sensors, Sea-Bird CTDs, and Onset data loggers to take oceanographic measurements along the California and Washington coastlines. In addition to field research, I also employ laboratory-based experiments to explore the effects of climate change on primary production in the surface ocean. My goal after completing my graduate degree is to work in a research institution where I can combine my academic foundation and past research experience into a meaningful career in natural resource management.
