I came to Westwood fresh out of college (Campbell University) back in 1993. Initially my priority ministries were music and youth. I attended Southeastern Seminary during my first four years here and received my Master of Divinity degree in 1997.
Through the years my responsibilities have changed some but my title and role as a pastor have continued. Now my specific areas of ministry are missions and evangelism, however I am most gifted in the area of etc. I do quite a bit of counseling and I work with the Men’s Ministry as well. My claim to fame is being married to the wonderful Sharon (over 21 years!) and being the father of three outrageously great kids.
Sharon is a Software Support Engineer based in RTP, and all around volunteer and servant at church and school. She’s awesome! She does an incredible job of managing the craziness that is our life with family, church, school, and sports and she makes sure we don't miss any meals.
Daniel is a 17 year old Senior who lives to read and play soccer, basketball, and volleyball. Right now he is busy looking for the right college and for some scholarships. Jordan is 15 years old and loves volleyball, reading, driving, and talking to her friends. Emily is 13 years old and enjoys soccer, reading, and time with friends. They all are very good students and each of them are coming along in the faith, which is the most important thing to me.
My passions are my Savior, my family, His church (my spiritual family), missions, singing, and trying to help coach whatever sport one of my kids is playing. I get very excited when I see someone trust Jesus as their Lord and Savior, when the church functions effectively (working together in a fruitful way), and when I get to be a part of God healing and rebuilding a marriage or family. These are the kind of things that throw logs on my fire. My family and I thank the Lord regularly for the opportunity to serve Him here, with such a wonderful church family.
