I am a pharmacist working in GP practices and community pharmacies in Carmarthenshire. I am also Clinical Director for Sonar Informatics.

I am a highly experienced NHS manager and primary care pharmacist, who, through my work in both East Kent and North East London pioneered the development of primary care and community pharmacy services, many of which have since been adopted in other localities across the NHS.

I participated in the inaugural NHS Fast Track Executive Programme, which included: attendance at Harvard Kennedy School and Harvard School of Public Health; executive education led by the NHS Leadership Academy; an overseas placement (in Canada); and a corporate placement (with BT). I worked at South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust where I led the Older People's Service transformation.

Career-wise, have worked in general NHS management as a Service Director at South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust, and have had a number of roles in Primary Care, and nationally.

Between 2008 and 2012, I was National Clinical Director for Primary Care and Community Pharmacy. I championed the role of the community pharmacy team in optimising the use of medicines and promoting and supporting healthy lifestyles.

As pharmacy lead for the Dementia Calls to Action, I championed the role of the pharmacy team in supporting people with dementia and their carers, and in reducing the use of antipsychotics in people with dementia. As a result of this work, I was invited to be one of the Prime Minister's Dementia Champions.

My work has been recognised internationally: I worked with the Norwegian Pharmacy Association, and was a member of the Europe-wide Ascertaining Barriers for Compliance Project that looked into ways of addressing the problems of poor adherence with medicines.

I have been a trustee of the charity, Pharmacist Support.
