Jonathan Purvis

Hello! I'm Jonathan, from Middlesbrough in the North East.

My main interests and hobbies are Music, Gaming and Technology.

Ever since I got my first computer back in the 90's I become instantly hooked.

It wasn't until Secondary School my interest for computing really took off. I was able to use programs that I didn't have at home and I'd never heard of before and expand my computer knowledge. I decided to take extra IT at GCSE level and came out with 4 C grade GCSE's.

In 2009 I started studying at Middlesbrough College, I decided to take Software Engineering Level 3 BTEC course. I learnt a ton of new skills to add to the ones I already had. The stuff at college was way harder and challenging than school but this was to be expected.

During college I had a chance to do many different units that got me using completely new and different programs than what I was used to. Below are some of the units I did at college.

  • Event Driven Programming
  • Object Orientated Programming
  • Video Game Design and Development
  • Animation
  • Human Computer Interfaces
  • Web Design and Development

This course ran from 2009-2011 and in June 2011 I finished my Software Engineering course with a DDM (AAB in A level terms)

From July 2011-2012 I was an apprentice at a local e-Commerce company in Stockton called Visualsoft. It was my job to build the sprites that go on each of our sites (sprites are things like the header, footer and buttons etc...) I also had additional jobs such as testing our sites for bugs, setting up clients on our Gmail system and sorting out any Gmail problems our clients had.

In July 2012 I became a Junior Web Developer at Visualsoft.
