Jonathan Youngwood has earned recognition from the Legal 500, Chambers and Partners, Securities Law 360, and Euromoney Benchmark Litigation for his accomplishments. Jonathan Youngwood joined Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP in 1995 and became a litigation partner at the firm in 2003. He focuses primarily on complex commercial and securities litigation and has represented prominent financial institutions from around the world.
In addition, Jonathan Youngwood has a number of pro bono achievements to his credit, especially in the area of public education. He served on a team of Simpson Thacher attorneys that litigated the constitutional inadequacy of New York City public school education.
As an undergraduate, Jonathan Youngwood studied public policy at Brown University. After graduation, he continued his education at the University of Chicago, where he received a master of arts in public policy and a juris doctor with honors. During his time at the University of Chicago, Jonathan Youngwood served as comments editor of the Law School’s law review. After finishing his graduate degrees, he secured a clerkship on the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. He joined Simpson Thacher after completing his clerkship.
Jonathan Youngwood is a faculty member with the Practising Law Institute and the 2014 co-chair of the annual continuing legal education seminar "Handling a Securities Case." He also speaks and writes on a range of other topics at the institute.
