Darryl Jones

Fredericksburg, VA

-95 Attended recruit training, Basic Helicopters Course at Millington TN, and Ch-46 Training in Tustin CA. Moved with Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 265 (HMM-265) to Okinawa Japan.

Promoted to Corporal and was given first opportunity to run a work-center. With 4 Marines under me, responsible for performing 100 Hour aircraft inspections as the Phase Crew Supervisor.

Promoted to Sergeant and temporarily transferred to HMM-262 for 6 months. Began a campaign that improved the squadron's efficency as well as their quality. By following standard procedures, was able to work with 6 Marines and instill a work ethic that proved working hard, by not taking shortcuts and using a more critical eye to inspect the aircraft, the aircraft fly longer with less repairs later.

Moved up to Maintenance Control. Earned my Safe For Flight (SFF) certification and shortly after was managing the entire night shift's maintenane priorities, flight schedule and preparing for the next day's schedule. Handling all problems as they arose and responsible for making timely decisions that met the needs of the unit without hurting the morale of the Marines.

Promoted to Staff Sergeant and transferred to HMMT-164 at Camp Pendleton, CA. Began A&P school with Embry-Riddle, completing the courses with a 4.0 GPA. I did not follow through and test with the FAA.

Became 164's Phase Superisor and ran an extremely successful work-center for the next 2 years passing every inspection, staying on schedule and putting on paper an operating procedure that meets the needs of Quality Assurance, Maintenance Control and Troop Welfare.

-2010 Transferred back to Okinawa permanently with HMM-262. Performing as a Maintenance Controller reestablished the lessons I had taught years earlier. Over the course of the first year was instrumental at bringing the total workload from 1,000+ Maintenance Action Forms (MAFs) to under 300. Reisted pressure from higher authority to "bend the rules" and did not allow the unit to regress when following procedure was inconvenient. Was Flight Line Chief in Iraq. Later became the Quality Assurance Chief and, in the end, Phase Crew Supervisor. Leaving behind my procedures for efficeincy and quality.

Transfered back to HMMT-164, served as Flight Line Chief and ASM coordinator

-Present Transfered one last time, as a helicopter mechanic to MCB Quantico.
