Katy Jones
My name is Katy Jones. I'm a senior graduating from college in the very near future. I can't tell you how excited I am to break into the real world!
I currently call Odessa, Texas my home town. Most people are suprised to hear that I was born in Saltlake City, Utah. My family and I moved to Texas when I was 4. In Odessa I spent 7 summers playing softball and attending art camp. When I entered Junior High, however, I turned in my paint brush and softball mitt for a TI-84 and mountains of homework. In the 8th grade my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and since then I have been very passionate about women's issues. I graduated from Odessa High School in 2010 ranked as number 7 out of 707 students.
I got my blackbelt in Tae Kwon do the day before I moved to Tech. I also started dating my first boyfriend 2 weeks before I moved to Tech, and have been in a distance relationship ever since. My first job ever was in the Hulen Clement Cafeteria. Since my first semester I have been a Student Manager, Red Raider Orientation Counselor, and Community Advisor. I've also been active in a number of organizations including the English Honor Society, the Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance, and the Secular Student Society.
