Jon Gustafsson

An Icelandic / Canadian film, television and theatre director and producer. Jon has won numerous awards for his films, including the Audience Award at the Oxford International Film Festival, a Jury Award at the Stonybrook International Film Festival and Best Documentary Feature at the Red Rock Film Festival for his feature length documentary Wrath of Gods (starring Gerard Butler, Sturla Gunnarsson, Stellan Skarsgard and more). His music video for Canadian rock band The Watchmen won The Blizzard Award for Best Music Video. Jon's films have been invited to film festivals all over the world.

Jon continues to make films both in Iceland and Canada.

In 2001 Jon created the Gimli Film Festival in order to showcase his first feature film and served as festival director for the first three years. The festival has continued to grow in size and popularity and now attracts thousands of people to the popular public beach movie screenings.

He studied filmmaking in Manchester, England and directing at California Institute of the Arts where he was mentored by the late Ealing Studios legend Alexander Mackendrick. Before that Jon was a radio and television performer where he hosted hundreds of shows for Icelandic public broadcaster RUV.
