London, United Kingdom.

I'm the European affairs correspondent of The Guardian newspaper in London, where my work mainly focuses on longform international reportage but also includes breaking news, analysis, explainers and interviews.

I was previously a senior feature writer and foreign correspondent and have reported for the Guardian from more than 30 countries, including a 10-year stint as the paper's chief Paris correspondent. My reporting has been shortlisted for Feature Writer of the Year (at the British Press Awards), Best Digital Innovation (UK Foreign Press Association Awards) and Best Feature (Online Journalism Awards).

I wrote the Guardian's groundbreaking, critically acclaimed multimedia interactive Firestorm - also an ebook - which has been shown in competition at documentary film festivals around the world and won the 2013 Walkley Award for multimedia storytelling. My work using social media to report the impact on ordinary people of the economic crisis in southern Europe has also won international recognition.

I'm a fluent French speaker and am a regular guest on French radio and television. I also co-wrote and presented a well received four-part documentary series, The Price of Property, for the UK's Channel 4.
