Jonny Ortiz

Jonathan Ortiz is an emerging artist who is half Latino and half Irish. He has a strong interest in the performing arts, which includes theater and film. His background included eight months of intensive training with interdisciplinary artist Linda Carmella Sibio. Methods he has utilized include sense memory, European acting techniques, Commedia del Arte, emotionally based dance movement and the “psychological” method that has been developed by Ms. Sibio over 25 years of teaching professional performers and the mentally disabled. It is called “The Insanity Principle.” Mr. Ortiz has also combined his theatrical movement with 15 years of studying Kung Fu, Jujitsu and Kenjutsu. During the course of my film career I am interested in doing leading roles suitable for someone in my age range (16-25). It seems in doing work I’m interested in edgy characters that range from psychological with physical action, oddball lovers, psychotic alcoholics, and drug addicts. My strong points as an actor include a large emotional range from deep vulnerability to primal insanity anger. Philosophically I see the positive in the negative aspects of the world. I have an interest in Eastern philosophy that accentuates the present and the “now.” I also like Eastern visuals and style that I use in my work. This interest in the present moment makes it possible for me to change characters rapidly and fully engage the physical, emotional and psychological in my work.
