Nurse in ipswich, Massachusetts
My name is Jon Stafford, School Nurse, and I am a Registered Nurse with more than two decades of experience working in pediatric healthcare, behavioral health, and public education. My career has been dedicated to supporting children and school communities through careful clinical practice, ethical decision-making, and clear, accurate documentation.
Before entering the nursing profession, I spent ten years working as a mental health counselor for children and adolescents in residential treatment settings. This work required patience, consistency, and a deep understanding of emotional and behavioral health. I later provided one-on-one Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) therapy for children with autism, further strengthening my background in developmental and behavioral care. These early experiences continue to shape my perspective and approach as a school nurse.
I began my nursing career in high-acuity clinical environments, including pediatric intensive care, acute care, and emergency medicine. I worked at institutions such as Boston Children’s Hospital, Shriners Burns Hospital, and North Shore Children’s Hospital, where precision, vigilance, and sound clinical judgment were essential every day. These roles reinforced the importance of accurate assessment and documentation—skills that remain central to my professional practice.
For the past sixteen years, I have served as a public school nurse and district coordinator in Massachusetts. I am widely known as a school nurse in Ipswich, where my work extends beyond direct clinical care. My responsibilities include interpreting medical information for educators and administrators, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, coordinating care for students with complex medical needs, and maintaining detailed, reliable health records that support informed decision-making.
Prior to my work in Ipswich, I served as a school nurse in Winthrop, gaining valuable experience within a different school district and community setting. My time working in both Ipswich and Winthrop has provided me with a broad understanding of how school health services must adapt to the unique needs of each community while maintaining consistent professional and ethical standards.
I hold an Associate of Science in Nursing from North Shore Community College and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Western Governors University. I am a Registered Nurse (RN), a DESE-licensed Massachusetts educator, and a Nationally Certified School Nurse (NCSN). I am also a member of the International Association of Forensic Nurses, reflecting my commitment to documentation integrity and professional accountability.
In addition to my work in schools, I apply my experience through legal nurse consulting, where careful analysis, accuracy, and disciplined attention to detail are essential. Across every role I have held—bedside nurse, school nurse, and consultant—my focus has remained the same: clarity, integrity, and evidence-based practice.
As Jon Stafford, School Nurse, my goal is to ensure that healthcare decisions affecting children are thoughtful, factual, and grounded in professional standards. Whether serving students, families, educators, or institutions, I remain committed to supporting safe, ethical, and effective school health services in the communities of Ipswich, Winthrop, and beyond.
