Jonté Major

The day I graduated from high school my very successful uncle came to me and asked me a question that would later shape me into the person that I am today. He asked me "Jonté what is the one word you want people to associate your name with "? At the time I had no answer for his question, so he told me to think about it, and once I had my word, make sure all my actions reflect said word. This is perhaps the best advise any one person has ever given to me. After a while I finally stumbled upon the word, and it turns out it is courage. I strive to reflect the meaning of the word courage in my everyday life and its not always easy. Why courage? Well courage is the power source behind all great people in history. Martin Luther King Jr. exhibited courage when he lead the civil rights movement. Amelia Earhart was extremely courageous when she flew solo across the Atlantic. Hillary Clinton had to display courage when she ran against Barak Obama to become the democratic national parties presidential candidate. My point here is that all successful people have one common characteristic, and it is courage. I decided to live my life in a way that reflects on the word courage and hopefully all my actions up to this point do just that. Once I got to college I discovered my love for event planning. Event planning allows me to combine all my favorite things in one. Planning events requires great marketing, great personal skills, an eye for design, and it allows you to raise money for a good causes or celebrate the amazing achievements of others. Being a corporate event planner may not sound like the most courageous job ever, but having courage doesn't always mean you will run into a burning building; it means you have the courage to do what makes you happy no matter what that may be or what other people say. I love event planning because it lets me do all the things I love to do almost simultaneously. I am a visionary and a planner and once I have developed a vision, I will stop at nothing to see it come to life. I like to think outside the box and take risks. Event Planning is my career passion. I love being a part of organizing and planning events that bring people joy and excitement. I truly hope to one day be an event professional.
