Jordan Smith
Student in Athens, Georgia
My name is Jordan Smith, and I can teach myself how to do almost anything to save some money or make it exactly how I want. I have grown up doing lots of crafts, like painting, sewing, clay modeling, and bracelet making. In elementary school, I started getting more creative with my crafts. When duct tape creations became popular, I decided to not only design wallets, but to take it another step and build a pulley system between my desk and another friend's desk. Later on, in middle school, classmates of mine began to sell beaded chokers. This gave me the inspiration to start making more complex jewelry than the ones I began making when I was younger. I started to make my own rings, earrings, and improved my necklace and bracelet making skills. In high school, my friends and classmates started to like the pieces I've created for myself, so I began making jewelry for others and they loved it! Not only did I teach myself how to do jewelry, but also many other random things. I thought it would be cool to be able to do a backflip whenever I wanted to, so I taught myself how to do one. For a birthday gift, I learned how to make beaded wire flowers and gave them as a present. I never really enjoyed going to the nail salon, so I taught myself how to do my own nails so I could make them exactly how I like. After lots of practice on my own nails, friends started asking me to do theirs! Overall, I am a very crafty, creative, quick learner who will always attempt to make something before I buy it.
