Jordan Johnson
Three years ago, if you had told Jordan Johnson that he would accomplish every single life-long goal that he had set for himself in that time period, he probably would have laughed at you. If you went on to inform him that his personal life would become even more of a rollercoaster ride than the popstars that he used to idolize, Jordan — at the time, a paint-by-numbers ex-Disney Star who was excitedly starting his first semester in Pepperdine University’s “5-year MBA” program — likely would have asked you where the hidden camera was… a problem that he currently faces on a nearly daily basis due to the mobile applications, video reaction websites, and internet databases that he himself used to help develop and deploy.
“Reality Show” is the culmination of nearly a decade of songs, lyrics, text-messages, and online interactions that document Jordan’s life in a relatively non-specific way. Two of the songs, in fact — “Thinkin’ ‘Bout You” and “So Much For Me And You” — were written, produced, and recorded before Jordan completed “On My Own” (his debut album), which was the causation of his being signed to Disney in the first place. Now, Jordan — with a popstar resumé that includes co-headlining with the likes of Britney Spears, the Jonas Brothers, and Lady Gaga, and an actual resumé of… well, not much else — faces an entirely different dilemma: what do you do when you realize that none of the things that you “always wanted” actually matter?
The album “Reality Show” is being released exclusively through Google Music, and will likely have another tour — or as one of Jordan’s current closest friends put it, another “spectacle” — to coincide with its release and promotion.
