I am currently a senior at West Virginia University studying journalism with an emphasis in television journalism. I am also working towards a minor in Sport and Exercise Psychology. I will be graduating in May of 2016.
I am an currently intern with West Virginia Illustrated. Each week I co-host a weekly basketball preview show that airs on their website alongside one of their reporters. I am also able to go into the field and film, go to press conferences and media days alongside reporters to learn the ropes in sports reporting.
The past two summers I’ve spent interning in Los Angeles, California and New York, New York. In Los Angeles I was interning at FOX Sports Headquarters and had the ability to shadow National Television producers, directors, editors and talent all while also working on skills for my own on camera career. My summer in New York was spent with Sports195, Inc. doing marketing work for the company and managing several social media accounts.
Growing up in Greensburg, Pennsylvania the middle child of two athletically gifted sisters, the majority of my childhood was spent on the sidelines of a game. Whether it was watching my sister swim the 500 or my brother throw knuckleball into the catcher’s glove, sports have simply always been a part of my life. I discovered my love of public speaking through Mock Trial and Cheerleading. I realized I enjoyed being in front of a crowd but more importantly I loved being around sports.
When I was applying to college and thinking of my future I knew one thing for certain – I wanted a career in sports media. Four years later and my career aspirations remain constant.
