Jordi Poater
Born in Banyoles, between the Pyrenees and the Costa Brava, in 1977. I possess the Degree in Chemistry by the Universitat de Girona (UDG), the PhD in Chemistry by the UDG (2003), I was a Marie Curie Postdoc at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, and from 2008 I'm a Ramon y Cajal Researcher at the UDG. My research is based on computational (bio)chemistry. Specifically, I've carried out projects based on the characterization of aromatic organic and inorganic molecules; the modeling of the DNA replication mechanism; the computational design of new biomarkers for neurological illnesses; among others. My permanent contact with informatics has meant a natural introduction into the new Internet tools. As a scientist I'm concerned about the importance of communicating our everyday tasks to the society, who benefit from the progresses of science. This is the reason why communicating tools in Internet are also part of my daily tasks.
