Science, research, veterinary studies, animal reproduction, animal nutrition. Journalism, newswriting, breaking studies, creativeness, public relations, communication. Though these things seem completely different, they all have one thing in common: me.

My name is Jordyn Willis and I will be graduating from The University of Findlay with two separate bachelor's degrees, a B.S. in Animal Science and a B.A. in journalism. I grew up in a small town in Northeast Ohio, Geneva, known for it's grape vineyards and farm land. In high school, I was involved in several different clubs and sports, but what seemed to grab my interest the most writing for the Ashtabula County Star Beacon, our county newspaper, as a student columnist, writing on things that were taking place in our high school.

Where it all Started

I graduated Geneva High School in 2012 with an honors diploma, as a member of the National Honor Society, French Club, and as the Student Life and Activities editor on the Aquilla yearbook. From there I left my little town and drove three hours west to Findlay, Ohio, where I had my heart set on the Pre-Veterinary/ Animal Science program at the University. I had fallen in love with working in the animal field during a high school job as a kennel person at the town veterinary office, All Creatures Animal Hospital. From there I participated in the Ashtabula County mentoring program, shadowing the Veterinarian I worked for during the hours that I was not on the clock. My heart fell in love with working with animals.

Once at The University of Findlay, I enrolled as a Animal Science/ Pre-vet major. But something seemed to be missing in my heart. I found that I had the desire to write but my time was very limited. Not soon after, I switched my major from a single Animal Science degree with an emphasis in pre-veterinary medicine, to two separate degree on animal science and journalism. The course load is difficult and busy, but the two subjects are both what I love doing and the work has been well worth it.

My dreams are just beginning.

As a junior at The University of Findlay, I want to graduate with both degrees and go into the work field writing for an animal science related company. I strive to combine both my majors, to be able to do research with animal nutrition, reproduction, medicine, etc. and to write/publish my work. With my experience in animal science, working at a vet's office for two years,
