Hi, I am Jordyn, I am from Johns Creek, Georgia and one thing you might not immediately guess about me is that I am really into science fiction books. Not just any science fiction books, though; I am specifically obsessed with The Percy Jackson series. And if you haven't heard of these books, they are about Greek Gods and Demi-Gods in modern day society, fighting monsters and protecting us mortals from harm. In these books, lots of natural disasters are explained by events that occur in the book, similar to how Greeks explained natural disasters back in Ancient Greece. For some reason, despite the fact that the lives of the kids in the story are drastically different from mine, I still feel like I can relate to the Demi-Gods fighting for their lives with little to no help from their parents. Clearly, when I was a twelve year old, I had an inflated sense of ego, because I was absolutely sure that I would have been fine lunging at monsters and traversing on crazy adventures that we both know my mother would not have let me go on. Of course, my young self expectations were rudely confronted with reality when I just had to call my mom every day for the first 6 days of college and seriously struggled doing laundry yesterday on my own.
