Florida business leader Jorge Mas Santos holds responsibilities as chairman and cofounder of MasTec, Inc. Over the past two decades, he has grown the network infrastructure service contractor into a $3.6 billion firm. The company has more than 12,000 workers within areas such as wireline utility services and electrical transmission. Jorge Mas Santos also led the utility and construction equipment rental firm Neff Corporation as founder until its sale in 2005. He grew the firm from a single Florida branch in 1990 to 80 locations across the United States, obtaining status as one of the industry’s top five companies.
Mr. Mas Santos is a longtime advocate of a Cuba and serves as president of the Cuban American National Foundation. His efforts on behalf of freedom within a dictatorial society have earned him the Simon Wiesenthal Center National Community Service Award. He has provided testimony before the U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere and has spoken on numerous media outlets, from Dateline NBC to The McNeil-Lehrer report.
