Jorgen Weterrings
With more than 25 years of direct involvement in civil litigation with an emphasis on product liability, Jorgen Weterrings currently utilizes his extensive legal experience as the Assistant General Counsel and Director of Legal Affairs at Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. He is responsible for the handling and direction of technical compliance matters as well as the defense of legal matters involving product liability, warranty, asbestos, and product-related class actions. In addition, in order to streamline the management of product liability-related matters, Jorgen Weterrings was tasked with consolidating those functions under a single North American legal department.
Prior to working for Mitsubishi, Jorgen Weterrings served as Managing Counsel for Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., Inc. and as General Counsel for Toyota Material Handling, U.S.A., Inc. While working for Toyota Motor Sales, Jorgen Weterrings was responsible for handling rollover and airbag litigation, and handled all product-related matters for the industrial equipment, marine, and TRD divisions. As General Counsel for Toyota Material Handling, Mr. Weterrings supervised and managed all legal areas affecting North America. Further, he helped hire key engineering and safety personnel to help train equipment operators and analyze product issues relating to litigation.
Mr. Weterrings studied at Connecticut College, where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts. In 1987, he graduated with a degree in law from Suffolk University Law School.
