Jose P. Alvarado

Amherst, Massachusetts, United States

Hi there, I'm Jose Pablo Alvarado!

I was born and raised in Costa Rica, and I still live there when not at school. Since an early age everyone could tell that I was a huge sport fanatic and terrible at telling jokes. That is the main reason why I am pursuing a degree in Sport Management at the Isenberg School of Management (UMass Amherst) and staying away from stand-up comedy.

I played both Soccer and Basketball since early childhood and all the way through High School Varsity. I still play both sports at the Intramural level, and also enjoy playing Tennis and Volleyball. I support seven soccer teams worldwide, my biggest being Chelsea FC and my favourite AD Santos: my team from back home.

I translate my natural passion for sports into my career path. I don't allow myself to give up, neither do I place myself over others; I am a team player always striving for the best. Such attributes earned me a position as the PR Director for the Association of Diversity in Sports (ADS), a sport management club in Isenberg. My work in ADS has also provided me with the opportunity to be Co-Chair of the upcoming Sport Management Career Fair in November.

My main goal is to become the head of the Ministry of Sports back home. Since the Ministry was formed about five years ago there have been four different Ministers, showing how bad of a job they have done. I want to build and strengthen the sport culture in Costa Rica, so that more people can experience the joy of sports in a better way.

One of the main perks I have are my basic graphic design skills, which have surely come in handy ever since I graduated from high school.

To learn more about what I have achieved with my passion for sports and my graphic design knowledge I invite you to visit my LinkedIn profile. If you want an in-depth look at some of the actual work I've done, you can also visit my personal Marketing blog. Or simply follow me on Twitter!

Well, that's a little about myself, pleased to meet you.
