José M. Rivera is an adaptive and experienced technician who believes in the value of teamwork. His Open Source knowledge and way of thinking make him a valuable asset in an industry that is embracing openness more and more with each passing day.

Born in the Caribbean island of Puerto Rico, José develop a passion for technology ever since he was given an Amiga Commodore by his parents at a very young age. After that Jose became a Linux user and has been for more than 10 years. He applied his open source knowledge to help financially burdened private schools, altruistically giving them the opportunity to develop a competitive computer education curriculum for all enrolled students.

After having freelanced as a computer repair technician Jose moved to Temple, TX to expand his work experience with Acer America Corp. holding a Level II NSC Technician position. He was given the privilege to attend advanced training at Acer's corporate headquarters based in Taipei, Taiwan where he was certified as an Acer Service Engineer. Among other responsibilities Jose provided support to the majority of Acer Authorized Service Providers along Central America and the South American continent for 5 years.

Jose aspires to continue his learning and skill development in the IT world at his current position as the Assist Instructional Technology at the Belton Independent School district.
