Joseph Hauer

Pianist Joseph Hauer, an avid soloist, chamber musician, and collaborative pianist, hails from Appleton, Wisconsin. He has performed concertos with the Oberlin Orchestra, Fox Valley Symphony, Madison Symphony Orchestra, and Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra. His performances have been broadcast statewide on Wisconsin Public Television and Wisconsin Public Radio, as well as on WCLV 104.9's "Cleveland Ovations." Other recent engagements brought him to cities and venues such as the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., NYU Steinhardt School of Music, Freeport Community Concert Association in Freeport, NY, Young Masters Recital Series in Valley Cottage, NY, UM School of Music in Ann Arbor, MI, Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Cleveland, OH, Oakton, VA, Marshfield, WI, Verona, WI, Sheboygan, WI, and Steven's Point, WI. In past summers he attended the Golandsky Institute Summer Symposium at Princeton University, PianoSummer at New Paltz, NY, and Pianofest in the Hamptons. He is an artist-in-residence at the Apollo Chamber Music Festival in Houston, MN. Hauer has won competitions, including: the Junior Prize in Piano, alternate winner in the Arthur Dann Piano Competition, and Senior Concerto Competition, all at Oberlin Conservatory.

Hauer is currently pursuing a Masters in Piano Performance with Eteri Andjaparidze at the NYU Steinhardt School of Music, where he holds a position as Adjunct Instructor of Piano. He is also a Summer Chamber Music Instructor at the Arthur Krempin School of Music in Appleton, WI. Hauer completed his undergraduate studies at the Oberlin Conservatory with Professor Peter Takacs on a full scholarship from the Miller Family Music Education Scholarship of Appleton, WI. His former teachers include Catherine Kautsky, Kyung Kim, Catherine Walby, and Charlene Reitz. His interests include jazz piano, Russian, racquetball, and snowboarding.
