Joseph Smeall-Villarroel
Hello! My name is Joseph, I grew up in Green Bay, WI, and graduated from Amherst College in Massachusetts. I studied abroad at Oxford University in England during my junior year.
At the end of college I received prizes from the college faculty for two projects I had completed, one being my music thesis in choral composition and the other being an original novella I wrote about the formation of marginalized identities in a Midwestern high school setting.
I worked for two years in Green Bay again after graduating. During this time I worked in the public schools as a teacher's assistant, and I also founded and directing an independent chamber choir that performed my music compositions from college.
I recently moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and now work as an entry-level legal assistant / office manager for Kemnitzer, Barron & Krieg LLP in SF, a firm that specializes in auto consumer rights and Lemon Law. My personal interests are in topics that are cerebral and artistic, informed by a strong belief in social justice. I believe my academic and professional paths will reflect the connection of these topics and values.
