"When I discover who I am, I'll be free." -Ralph Ellison

I grew up in Michigan's Great Lakes Bay Region, where I currently teach composition and literature at Delta College. I am also a doctoral student in the department of English at Wayne State, specializing in rhetoric and composition. I have taught both advanced and developmental college composition courses along with courses on literary theory, American, African American literatures and horror films.

Much of my teaching and research experience has been cultivated through world travel. During the summers of 2012 and 2014, I taught courses on figurative language in American culture at the Harbin Institute of Technology in Harbin, China. Along with China, I have also acquired educational and professional experiences in countries such as France, England, Morocco, Canada and Costa Rica.

As a scholar, I want to make contributions to ideas that promote social transformation. As an educator, I want to harness these contributions to empower my students to become more aware of themselves and the world in which they live.
