A longtime resident of Southern California, Joseph H. Fabish holds a bachelor of science in geology from California State University, Los Angeles. Over the years, he established himself as a globally recognized authority on the ancient and modern weaving techniques of the Peruvian people. In particular, Joseph H. Fabish concentrated on Peru’s Huamachuco region and the Incan textiles and blankets that it has produced.

In addition to writing about weaving/textiles and collecting a broad array of Peruvian samples, Joseph Fabish delivered lectures at gatherings such as the Annual Meeting of the Institute of Andean Studies, the Annual Meeting of the Textiles Institute of Andean Studies, and the Midwest Conference on Andean and Amazonian Archaeology and Ethnohistory. Much of his research is posted on his website peruvianblankets.com.

Before his death in November of 2018, Mr. Fabish spent much of his time in Peru. His body rests at Los Angeles’ Mount Sinai Memorial Park.
