Joseph Fresolo served in the 9th Division of the United States Army in the Mekong Delta of Vietnam during the Vietnam War. From 1967 to 1972, the 9th Division operated deep within areas under Viet Cong (VC) control and endeavored to protect local populations from the threats of VC insurgents. Joseph Fresolo served in the region from 1967 to 1970.

Among military honors that range from an Army Air Medal to an Army Presidential Unit Citation, Joseph Fresolo received three Purple Hearts after suffering wounds during VC engagements. An exceptional rifleman, he held expert badges in the operation of the 45-caliber pistol as well as M14, M16, and M60 rifles.

Since retiring from service, Mr. Fresolo has remained active in military matters as a member of both Disabled American Veterans and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. He also supports a number of military nonprofit initiatives that include the Paralyzed Veterans Association and The Army Historical Foundation.
