Hello! I'm Joseph Hernandez, Deputy Food Editor of The Chicago Tribune. Raised in Southern California, trained in Chicago, tested in New York, I'm rockin' a robust skill set spanning digital journalism, video production, photography, wine, food and much more.

As Deputy Food & Dining Editor of The Chicago Tribune, I help shape the coverage of that city's vibrant restaurant scene, from top restaurants and wine programs to killer taquerias and dive bars. Before returning to the city, I was a digital editor at Wine Enthusiast, a cookbook assistant to celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson, and a retail manager and bartender for a boutique Brooklyn wine shop and bar. I hold a WSET Advanced certificate, and my writing has appeared on Afar.com, Conde Nast Traveler, Paste, Tribune Sunday Magazine, Modern Luxury publications and more.
