Joseph Schepisi began his working career at 14 years old as a gas pumper at a Shell gas station in his hometown of Yonkers, New York. By the time he turned 17, Mr. Schepisi was the Head Mechanic for the same gas station he had started working for just three years earlier. This experience led him to open his first business, a parking lot maintenance company, which he owned and operated for five years.
Joseph Schepisi became involved in the heavy highway construction industry, with a specialization in bridge building, in the early 1990s. As a Foreman for Kiska Construction Corporation-USA, Mr. Schepisi supervised construction projects, monitored employees for compliance with applicable safety standards, and managed project timetables to ensure jobs were completed on time. In March of 2011, Joseph Schepisi left his job with Elsol Construction to spend more time with his family and to focus on a hair and beauty salon business he owns with his wife. The salon offers state-of-the-art technologies, including voice-activated hair drying units that drop down from the ceiling.
For nearly the past decade, Joseph Schepisi has been heavily involved in the Eastchester, New York, community, coaching youth soccer and baseball leagues at the Eastchester Community Center. These private youth sports leagues often have admissions fees too high for families on limited budgets to pay. To provide assistance, Mr. Schepisi and his wife often sponsor two children from single-parent homes. They have additionally sponsored as many as five children at a time over the years.
Joseph Schepisi donates to nonprofit organizations such as The Humane Society of the United States and those dedicated to raising awareness of breast cancer, as well as local public service divisions, including the Eastchester Fire Department, Police Department, and Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
