Joseph Sturdevant spent two decades with the City of Columbia Heights police force in Minnesota. In this role, he particularly enjoyed partnering with other officers to address and solve problems. He also has significant experience working directly with the community in organizations such as DARE, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and Teen Academy. Joseph Sturdevant provided education on public safety through programs like Bicycle Safety Education and Mock Car Crash, and he was also involved with landlord/tenant outreach. Additionally, he participated in Santa Cop and Coffee with a Cop.
More recently, Joseph Sturdevant worked with the Metro Transit Community Outreach Division to launch a volunteer program through which Metro Transit employees volunteer and promote their organization. Additionally, he serves the Fit for Life program through the Metropolitan Council, attending monthly meetings to discuss ways to promote various fitness activities. He also volunteers with the American Diabetes Association.
Mr. Sturdevant attended Alexandria Technical College, where he earned a degree in law enforcement.
