For more than a decade, Joseph Whittinghill has provided leadership to major groups and divisions within Microsoft. Born in Billings and having lived in Missoula and Helena, MT, Joseph Whittinghill relocated to Seattle when he started at Microsoft in 1999 as Senior Recruiting Manager of the company's Platforms Product Group. In this role, he helped recruit and staff for several divisions, making over 900 new hires in just one year, triple his established goal. His new hiring process that was later implemented across the company.
In 2001, Joseph Whittinghill accepted a position as Group Manager of Microsoft's Management and Employee Development Group. At this post, he was responsible for strategic planning and implementation of a broad array of management and development programs, from new-member orientations and career development to ongoing mentorships. He traveled around the world to conduct planning meetings and make presentations, and doubled the delivery of training without sacrificing quality standards. From 2003 to 2005, he expanded his training role as Director of the Corporate Learning and Development Group.
Since 2005, Joseph Whittinghill has led efforts within Microsoft's Venture Integration Group, first as Senior Manager of Mergers and Acquisitions HR, and since 2008 as Managing Director and General Manager of Mergers and Acquisitions. In these roles, he has been responsible for overseeing the human resources aspects of more than 85 corporate acquisitions valued at nearly $13 billion. This has included due diligence, integration, and performance tracking for over 7,500 new employees.
Joseph Whittinghill graduated with honors from the University of Montana with a BA in Political Science, including a minor in Economics. He earned an MS in Organizational Development from the Graziadio School of Business at Pepperdine University. Joseph Whittinghill vacations frequently in Helena, MT, and maintains ties to his home state as a Trustee for the University of Montana and as a member of Montana Ambassadors.
