Joseph Zelig

Board-certified periodontist Dr. Joseph Zelig provides a wide range of cosmetic, preventive, and restorative dental care at the Manhattan-based Smile in the City Dental Group. Having received his DDS from the New York University College of Dentistry, he subsequently pursued additional training in periodontology, laser periodontics, and intravenous sedation. Recognized by his peers for his practice knowledge and excellence, Joseph Zelig, DDS, often speaks on advanced dental care procedures and patient care practices.

As part of his professional commitment to study and adopt the most advanced dental care procedures available, Dr. Joseph Zelig uses WaterLase laser treatment. By focusing light and water rather than traditional steel instruments on diseased and damaged oral tissue, this state-of-the-art instrument provides greater precision, thereby leaving healthy areas unaffected. Dr. Zelig remains one of the few dentists in New York City who is trained in, let alone uses, WaterLase laser dentistry procedures.

When not attending to his professional obligations, Joseph Zelig, DDS, pursues multiple personal interests; in addition to playing the piano and keyboard as part of a music group, he enjoys riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle and preparing Middle Eastern dishes. Moreover, he trains in Krav Maga, a self-defense system, and travels regularly to Israel. Dr. Zelig also supports Sharsheret, a nationwide education and support organization within the Jewish community for women with breast cancer and their families.
