Jose Plehn Dujowich is the CEO, Chief Data Officer, and Founder of BrightQuery (BQ) and BQ AI. He brings over a decade of experience collaborating with major U.S. statistical agencies such as the IRS, Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics, and Small Business Administration (SBA). His areas of expertise include economics, finance, data analytics, employment, payroll, financial and credit ratings, industrial organization, and artificial intelligence (AI).

In 2019, he established BrightQuery to deliver firmographics, financials, corporate family trees, and legal insights about the U.S. economy. The platform manages extensive data on more than 100 million legal entities, 70 million organizations, 150 million employees and business owners, and 250 million locations, all sourced from regulatory, tax, and legal filings with entities including the IRS, Department of Labor, SBA, and SEC, as well as over 80,000 governmental jurisdictions. BrightQuery is poised to celebrate its fifth anniversary in December 2024.

2023 saw the creation of BQ AI, a project to construct a super-intelligence modeling the global economy, beginning with the U.S., by leveraging BQ's proprietary database. This initiative is developing a detailed simulation of the economy as a complex network of interacting entities, ranging from individual companies to whole governments and economic sectors, aiming to merge micro-level data with macroeconomic landscapes.

His groundbreaking research in artificial intelligence and data analytics is currently supported by funding from the National Science Fund (NSF). He is leading three NSF-funded projects, including one focused on "AI-Ready Data Products to Facilitate Discovery and Use," which aims to develop tools that enhance the integration of AI technologies with statistical data products. This work is intended to assist federal agencies and their partners in harnessing the power of generative AI to extend the reach and effectiveness of their data-driven initiatives.

Before turning to entrepreneurship, he was a Senior Advisor and Co-founder at Powerlytics, where he contributed intellectual property crucial for aggregating anonymized IRS tax data on U.S. entities. His academic career was marked by significant roles, including Faculty and Executive Director of the Fink Center at the UCLA Anderson School of Management, where he published extensively in esteemed academic journals.
