Management, Coordinator, and Coach in New Plymouth, New Zealand
Tēnā koe
I have been employed in management roles in the insurance, hospitality, tourism, and not-for-profit sectors. I have succeeded in my career by setting realistic goals, using available resources well and building efficient and motivated teams to implement strategic plans. After all, we build for the future by working from a solid foundation. I have successfully worked in both corporate (FMG) and publicly-traded (Marsh).
My career progression has, actually, prepared me for a variety of roles. When I left school I went into hotel management because I wanted to provide guests with an experience rather than simply a product. I took what I learned from hotel management into the insurance industry and, when I was given the opportunity in Ireland to be an internal auditor of a hotel, it allowed me to use my hospitality and risk management experience to review, build operational performance plans and measures that resulted in ultimate client satisfaction. This was an ideal job for me at that point in my career.
The roles that I have held since returning from Ireland have built on my skill base. I am sure that after reading my curriculum vitae and talking with me you will not only see that all of these competencies and attributes but that they are ready to be applied to any role.
- Experience with managing a profit centre and revenue targets
- Demonstrate ability to deal with operational complexity
- Operate effectively in a branch context
- Strong interpersonal and people leadership skills
- Sound judgement
- Proactive in style
- Socially confident with a wide range of people and organisations
I am actively involved in the community. From 2009 until 2019 I was been a board member of Mid Central Zone of New Zealand Rugby League and for the last five years, I was the Chairperson. From 2018 until May 2020 I was Chair of Taranaki Rugby League; for my services to the game over 26 years I was awarded a Distinguished Services medal by New Zealand Rugby League. From 2014 until 2016 I was a board member for the Taranaki Chamber of Commerce. In 2016, I stood for the Taranaki District Health Board and polled 10 out of 28 candidates. Working to get the best results for my community is a passion.
I look forward to being able to discuss further my skills, attributes and what I can bring to this role and how I can contribute to assisting with the continued growth and success of the organisation.
