My writing is an engine, warming up to go. It takes some time for me to start up but when I do I take off, only stopping when I run out of things to say. The way I start is usually with a small idea that is like the key that starts the motor. Then I give my idea the gas (meaning that I find the words to fuel and express my idea). Once the engine starts to burn the fuel, the flow of words accelerates and becomes almost automatic. After all the words are on the paper the engine begins to cruise and I no longer need to think long about new ideas. As long as the engine has enough gas, I can keep on going until I am done. Once the end is in sight, I slow myself down and take my foot off the gas pedal. Picture Source
