Joshua Weaver

Teacher and Coach in Georgia

My name is Josh Weaver and I am a football and track and field coach. I am currently coaching high school football and track at Woodstock High School in Woodstock, GA.

I played college football at the University of Memphis from 2006-2009 under coach Tommy West. I also had Coach Tim Walton, current Ohio State defensive backs coach, and Coach Brent Pry, current Virginia Tech Head Coach, as position coaches during my time. I was a utility player playing all of the positions on the defensive side of the football. My senior year, I led my team in sacks and won the teams Role Player award. After my playing days, I returned home in Georgia and started to coach football and track.

I completed my 15th year of coaching and still have the love of doing as I did when I first started. Over the years, I have gain valuable coaching experience coaching football while making a one year stop at the University of West Georgia as a grad assistant. As a graduate assistant, I have learned from some great coaches such as the late Jody Allen, current FAMU Head Coach James Colzie.

I mainly coach on the defensive side of the ball having experience coaching defensive backs, defensive line and linebackers. At Woodstock, I am the Assistant Head Coach, Special Teams Coordinator and defensive line coach. It is my goal to one day become a high school Head football coach.

As a track coach, I have been a head coach for 10 years. I have coached many region and state champions, broken state records, and have sent many young people to college on scholarships.

At Woodstock, I am a Special Education teacher assisting with the science department teaching physical science and astronomy. I deal with at-risk students and students with disabilities. I have grown to enjoy being around these students because, for the most part, these students are looked down upon or looked at differently. It is my goal to make these kids feel accepted and wanted where they can work freely without being like an outcast. I also feel that these students can learn and at times, are the smartest students in the school. I seek to provide that respect to them and in my history, I have done such.
