What’s up, my name is Josh Hamrick, and I am a Civil Engineering student at the University of Georgia. Go Dawgs! I am currently spending my summer digging holes every day for an Irrigation company, so I have a pretty drastic farmer's tan. This summer, I will also be flying to Europe for a week to visit Germany, France, Switzerland, and Austria. In my free time, I enjoy watching sports, like football, golf, and Formula 1, and helping my grandpa in his woodworking shop. I chose Civil Engineering because, as a kid, and sometimes today, I enjoyed playing with Legos to see what I could create, and in doing so, I learned about important engineering topics like material strength, load bearing, and stress.
An interesting story about me is that my dad and grandpa wanted to name me John Wayne after the famous cowboy, and because it combined their two names. However, my mom and grandma were very against the name, so I was named Josh instead. I am very grateful to my mom because, like her, I do not like the name John Wayne.
An interesting fact about me is that my grandma is married to Kirby Smart’s cousin, and he was able to get her a signed photo of Kirby holding the championship trophy. I have been a die-hard Georgia fan since I was a kid, so I’m super happy I get to attend this University.
